In today’s modern society, people are faced with a variety of events and situations that can cause them to feel stressed.  While this has been considered as something that is a natural part of life, for some people the stress may be too great for them to handle and they wind up suffering a panic attack.

Panic attacks are brought about by intense feelings of anxiety commonly  triggered by a variety of factors.  These attacks could last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.  If you are susceptible to suffering from panic attacks, here are a few ways to help you deal with  it to minimize  the potential of a reoccurrence.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising on a regular basis does more than just allow you to firm up and look good.  When you exercise, your body releases endorphines into your blood stream.  Endorphines give you a sense of happiness, which make it a lot easier for you to relax.  As a result, you are  able to deal with stressful events and situations better, minimizing the risk of suffering from another panic attack.

Go Easy on the Caffeine

Another way to minimize the risk of suffering from another panic attack is to minimize on your caffeine intake.  Caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and even chocolate, can cause you to experience a faster heart rate. Having  a faster heart rate can increase your chances of suffering  from another  panic attack.

Quit Smoking

Smoking increases the level of carbon monoxide in your body.  This increase causes you to feel short of breath more often.  If you feel short of breath you tend to breath more rapidly and deeply.  This may, in turn, trigger you to feel symptoms associated with a panic attack.

Take Some Time Off

More  often than not, people who are susceptible  to panic attacks are those that are extremely stressed  out.  Stress causes a constant flow of adrenaline in the blood stream that can trigger the different symptoms brought about by having a panic attack.  Schedule a monthly vacation for yourself to allow you to unwind and relax away from the hustle and bustle  surrounding your life.

Think Positive

The mind is a very powerful and influential part of our body.  Oftentimes, how we feel and view things is dictated by the way we think.  People suffering from panic attacks are those that feel and view their situations as being extremely helpless, causing them to feel trapped.   Training your mind to think more positively will help you alleviate the stress that you are experiencing and will allow you  to see the brighter side of things.  This  may take some practice and a dedicated chunk of time.  Eventually, you will be able to feel a lot better about yourself and your situation, thus minimizing the chances of suffering from another panic attack.
